The North East Hampshire Area Schools Bands are based in Fleet and draw their members from local schools and colleges in Fleet, Farnborough, Aldershot and the surrounding area. The aim of the bands is to encourage young brass and percussion players to work closely together, building a strong team spirit and enabling individuals to develop a high level of self discipline and musicianship.

NEHASB, which was formed in 1976, is part of the Hampshire Music Service and the thirty members are all aged between eleven and eighteen. The band is supported by a training band of twenty members with an age range of seven to sixteen. Simon Wyld has been director since 1988 and Wendy Brett has been Assistant Director since 1993.

The bands have been entering the National Festival of Youth since 1990 and have been invited to take part in the finals on six occasions; the main band appearing at Symphony Hall, Birmingham in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The bands have become known for their participation in community events and have built up a close friendship with the Rotary Club of Fleet.

The activities of the bands are supported by a parent group known as the Friends of NEHASB. This is able to give both financial and practical help, running fund raising events such as cake stalls and raffles.

Foreign tours have become an important part of the bands' itinerary. The first foreign tour was to Germany in 1991 when the band gave concerts in the Rhineland. Since then they have toured Europe on eleven more occasions, visiting Rushmoor's twin town, Oberursel, most recently in 2013. For a full report visit the Tours page.

Residential Visits
In the years which the bands do not have a foreign tour, they have a residential weekend in the UK. This has usually been at Avon Tyrrell in the New Forest.
